Change is in the Air

Sunlight fades earlier each day,

as the earth slowly tilts away

from its light and warmth,

lengthening  the shadows,

shortening the days,

reminding trees to conserve their energy,

and animals to take stock,

before the cold winds blow.

  1. Yep, it’s that time of year, alright. My Beloved Sandra & I just returned from a long holiday weekend in Maine, cashing in on this last hurrah of summer. We spent both Saturday and Sunday on warm sandy beaches & took long, leisurely dips in (amazingly) comfortable lakes. Won’t see any more of those this year, I’m sure.

  2. I’ve started to feel the changes too, Annette. A couple weeks back when I walked through the office at work, through the window, I saw two orange leaves fall, plus the light has been changing. It felt like Autumn in that moment. We’ve had a couple of heat waves, another one is due this weekend, but it was cloudy yesterday and today with light sprinkles. And I hear the squirrels, probably getting to work early.
