Summer in the Tropics

An early morning breeze ruffle bird’s feathers

as they bathe in last night’s rain water,

lizards rush along the hot concrete blazing in the  morning sun.

Squirrels gather acorns knocked to the ground

as unripened nuts were torn from their branches

during the storm.

Lawnmowers struggle through thick, muddy grass,

homeowners rush to tame lush  gardens

as  tropical heat builds,

and thunder rumbles again.
