Moonlight in Vermont

I have a real love of 1940’s music- jazz. I drive to work listening to the 40’s station on Sirius XM. Moonlight in Vermont was playing the other morning- what a beautiful song. The melody is lovely, but it’s the lyrics that struck me. They are pure poetry.

Pennies in a stream
Falling leaves, a sycamore
Moonlight in Vermont
Icy finger waves
Ski trails on a mountain side
Snowlight in Vermont
Telegraph cables, they sing down the highway
And travel each bend in the road
People who meet in this romantic setting
Are so hypnotized by the lovely
Evening summer breeze
Warbling of a meadowlark
Moonlight in Vermont
You and I and
Moonlight in Vermont~ John Blackburn

Imagery-painting pictures of places we’ve never been. That’s beautiful writing.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=esynsha53A8
