Winter Sky

There is something special about the evening sky in December.

It isn’t a coincidence that the color of Advent is a rich blue-violet.

The sky this early evening is deep sapphire, as the deep rose color along the horizon slowly fades,

and the evening star appears.

To the east, the full moon begins its ascent; ghostly white against the darkening sky.

I breathed in the crisp, cold air as I walk towards my car.

As the days grown shorter, we stay snuggled up close to home,

waiting for the Earth to slowly tilt closer to the sun.
