Summer Symphony

Sitting in the deep shade of the oak tree,

its leafy canopy sways in the cooling breezes of early evening.

White cumulus clouds create castles in the air

as they float lazily in a sky as blue as the sea.

My eyes feast on the beauty~wildflowers framed against the green grass.

My ears soak up the sounds~ cicadas rising up in song, as the cardinal whistles his

cheerful tune, and crickets chirp as light fades from the sky~

a summer symphony for one.
