The rain continues to fall
creating a gray curtain that provides a stark backdrop
for the shiny, bright, green foliage that decorates my back garden.
Flowers bend low under the weight of the continious moisture.
They bow to nature’s force, but still reveal their strong beauty.
The cardinals quickly flit between the raindrops,
to grab a few seeds from a feeder that spins
around in the stiff breeze.
The wind blows leaves and pieces of spanish moss out of the trees.
Kitty watches as little tumbleweeds skip across the patio.
He is longing for blue skies,
and lizards to chase across the yard.
He wants to stretch out in a patch of sunlight,
lazy in the heat of the sun,
and so do I.
