The sun peeked through wispy clouds,
a light breeze blew my hair in my eyes
as we drove across the river.
Sunlight scattered diamonds on the water’s surface,
as boats glide by.
Your smile was as bright as a sunbeam,
as we strolled through the market-
filled with earth’s favorite colors.
Fat, red strawberries, dark green florets of broccoli,
vivid oranges, creamy white turnips with scarlet bulbs,
Speckled brown eggs, nestled in a sweet grass basket.
We pick, we choose -carefully,
as string bags bulge with nature’s bounty.
