What a difference a year makes.
Last year we lost our leader, a person who had fought tirelessly against the establishment on several fronts.
She did not talk of it, she often let people think the worst, rather than shamelessly promote herself, or act like she was better than the rest of us. In the end, forces removed the splinter in their hides, and we spiraled out of control.
Rumors abound. It was hard to determine who could be trusted. Paranoia, fear, and unsettled feelings left a dark cloud over the whole building. Eventually, someone shiny, bright, and new came on board. Everyone felt hopeful and relieved to finally have a leader at the helm.
Then, the new year began. Chaos reigned and rumors circulated once again as the leader vanished for days and weeks at a time.
For those of us who had gone through this over and over, we began to compare notes, talk in the parking lot, or chat online.
We banded together. We made our collective voices heard. We would not be silenced.
Today, the news came. Another leader was leaving the helm, again.
Only this time, there was no paranoia, no real shock. One person remarked that we had been carrying on without a leader for quite some time, and we could do it again.
We are strong. We are supportive of each other. We are united in our commitment to our clients- our purpose is clear.
We will carry on, no matter what happens. We are a team at last.
