“Sometimes we’re all too quick to count down the days, that we forget to make the days count.”~ Unknown
This quote struck me today as I prepare to start a new school year. It’s been a challenging few years, but I realize that wishing the time to pass is no way to live.
If I constantly look ahead, wishing for the next break, or even the next weekend, I will be as another blogger stated, “skimming through life.”
I’ve often made the mistake of looking too far into the future. I would count the days until the kids were back in school, when vacation started, or until the next transfer to another town.
But living with an eye always trained to see the future means you forget to enjoy the moment. It’s shameful, how often we waste time looking ahead.
Life is racing by, minute by rapid minute. My marker of time passing is the growth of my children. It seems like yesterday I was getting the youngest ready to start Kindergarten, and she will begin high school on Monday.
Time’s a wastin.’ No more rushing through the days, without thought. I’m going to find a kernel of joy each and every day.
Make each and every day count.
